02024 Movie Ranking so far (December edition)
Seen some … let me short-review some 🙂 ans then list them neatly.
SALEM’S LOT: strong one. I really liked this and had enough nudges to the original setting/zeitgeist to make this feel both old ánd new!
CANARY BLACK: solid action movie, but lacking a good story.
VENOM 3: it is like Bud Spencer & Terrence Hill but then supernaturally charged. And it still works! Adding a few extra wickedly cool venom-ites and even a venomized horse and fish, and you got me hooked!
AFRAID: yeah… another “AI gone rogue” kinda story. But it has a good turbulence throughout the sit-in and works towards a solid, yet freightening, ending.
MEGALOPOLIS: no. Skip it. Period
ARMOR: well it IS a Stallone-movie. But it feels like those later Bruce Willis movies, where it is more a prop then anything else. Tad too many plotholes or just stupid writing, does not help.
THE FIX: a really doozy even though some plotholes are present. The transformation into a “new human race” is just tasty and tastes like more!
DEAR SANTA (Satan): no. Just no. Jack Black sets a funny motion, but all in all this is just Hallmark-movie story and that is just weak!
RED ONE: was expecting to hate it but ended up loving it. Pratt is a cool anti-hero, Rock is a fun “do I look human?” and JK Simmons basically is a personal hero by now. Also digged the story and LOVED they added the bro and the bitch 🙂
HERE: a Tom Hanks movie, but not per se. I like the setting cause only one camera-poistion and it is fixed. The camera sits in the living room of a house where generation after generations lives, loves, hates, dies and whatnot.
