0Ace artists Frank Quitely and Mark Brooks are the latest MCM London addition
Eisner Award-winning comic book artist Frank Quitely (All-Star Superman, New X-Men) and Marvel-artist extraordinaire Mark Brooks are the latest special guests to be announced for MCM London’s Comic Village, with fans getting the chance to meet the most amazing comic artist line-up on all three days of our October show.
Frank Quitely and Mark Brooks will be joining Eisner Award winners Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello as special guests at the October show. Husband and wife team Jimmy and Amanda were previously announced, as were Frank Cho and Jorge Molina, Tim Sale and Klaus Janson. As were Billy Tucci (and no… not Jerry Tucci!!!) & John Romita Jr. As were Frank Tieri and Jim Cheung…
FRANK QUITELY
Glasgow-born artist Frank Quitely – real name Vincent Deighan – is most famous for his multiple Eisner-winning collaboration with Grant Morrison on All-Star Superman, widely recognised as one of the best Superman series ever drawn. Other credits include New X-Men, Batman and Robin, The Invisibles, The Authority and The Sandman: Endless Nights. Together with Mark Millar, Quitely is the co-creator of Image Comics’ Jupiter’s Legacy.
FRANK TIERI
Perhaps best known to comic readers for his three-year run on Wolverine, New York native Frank Tieri has also written for Marvel titles such as New Excalibur, Iron Man, Weapon X, Underworld, Deadpool and Black Knight. Meanwhile, Tieri’s work for other publishers includes Dynamite’s Red Sonja: The Black Tower, Top Cow’s The Darkness and DC’s Gotham Underground, JSA Classified and Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys.
MARK BROOKS
One of Marvel Comics’ go-to artists for eye-catching cover work, illustrator Mark Brooks’ awesome artwork adorns titles such as Avengers, Cable & Deadpool, Ultimate X-Men, New X-Men, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Astonishing Ant-Man, Secret Empire and the recent Star Wars: Han Solo. The American artist has also done work for DC Comics, Darkhorse Comics, Warner Brothers, Disney, Lucasfilm and Hasbro.
JIM CHEUNG
Currently drawing Justice League for DC Comics, British penciller Jim Cheung is the co-creator of Marvel Comics’ award-winning Young Avengers, illustrating titles such as 2010-2012 miniseries Avengers: The Children’s Crusade. Other work for Marvel includes The Amazing Spider-Man, X-Force, Civil War II, New Avengers, Uncanny X-Men and Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., while Cheung also drew CrossGen’s hi-tech fantasy series Scion.
JOHN ROMITA JR.
Following in the footsteps of his father, legendary Spider-Man artist John Romita Sr., comics artist John Romita Jr.’s has been illustrating big name titles for more than four decades now. Romita’s many Marvel credits include The Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Punisher War Zone, Uncanny X-Men, Thor and – under its Icon imprint – Kick-Ass. His work for DC includes Superman, Suicide Squad and The Dark Knight Returns: The Last Crusade.
BILLY TUCCI
Illustrator, writer and filmmaker Billy Tucci will be best known to comics fans as the creator of modern-day samurai fable Shi, which has been printed in five languages and has sold more than four million copies worldwide. Debuting in 1993, Tucci’s naginata-wielding heroine is still going strong, most recently in Shi – Return of the Warrior. Tucci is also known for his work on DC’s Sgt. Rock, Harley Quinn, Flash Vs. Superman and Batman.
Tim Sale began working in comics for the series MythAdventures in 1983, hut the body of Sale’s comics work has been with collaborator Jeph Loeb, including the Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Specials, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, as well as Superman for All Seasons and Catwoman: When in Rome. At Marvel Comics, the team has produced the Colour books such as Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, Hulk: Gray and Captain America: White. With Darwyn Cooke, Sale also launched the Superman Confidential series in 2007.
Sale also worked with Jeph Loeb, providing artwork as the work of the precognitive artist Isaac Mendez, in the TV show Heroes.
Other noted work include Vampirella: Rebirth also with writer Jeph Loeb.
COMICSBLOG.fr had the scoop at Reed POP’s Comic Con Paris about Sale working with two writers at DC Comics for two Batman projects, one with current ongoing Batman twice-monthly comic writer Tom King, and the other with the Nightwing: The New Order writer Kyle Higgins.
KLAUS JANSON
Klaus Jansen is a German-born American comic book artist. He is best known as an inker but is also a penciller in his own right. His first work appeared in the 70’s, but is best known for his collaboration with Frank Miller on the their seminal Daredevil run from 1979-83 and for their ground breaking work on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
He has also pencilled and inked for various Batman titles including Batman: Gothic with Grant Morrison, Amazing Spider-Man with John Romita Jr., Avengers, The Defenders, Wolverine, Detective Comics, and Batman as well as many other DC and Marvel titles.
Other noted work are Batman-Spawn: War Devil, written by written by Doug Moench and Chuck Dixon and drawn fully by Klaus Janson. The other crossover –Spawn/Batman– was written by Frank Miller; another guest at the upcoming MCM London show!

AMANDA CONNER
Best known for series such as Harley Quinn, Painkiller Jane, Power Girl, Vampirella and Eisner-nominated graphic novel The Pro, Conner’s comics CV features a host of top tiles including Lois Lane, Codename: Knockout and Birds of Prey for DC Comics’ Vertigo line, X-Men Unlimited for Marvel and Blackbull Comics’ Gatecrasher, which she co-created. Her recent work includes art for the late Darwyn Cooke’s Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre.
JIMMY PALMIOTTI
Multi award-winning writer and inker Jimmy Palmiotti has a tonne of high-profile projects to his name, including relaunching DC’s Harley Quinn series alongside partner Amanda Conner and co-creating Painkiller Jane and Marvel’s Marvel Knights imprint. Other work includes Powergirl, Deadpool, Monolith and Jonah Hex for DC Comics, Back to Brooklyn and The Pro for Image Comics, The Last Resort for IDW and 21 Down for WildStorm.
FRANK MILLER
In addition to creating the iconic The Dark Knight Returns, the hugely-influential Miller has written a host of classic comics and graphic novels, from Sin City and 300 (both of which were adapted as major movies) to Daredevil: Born Again and Elektra: Assassin. Other acclaimed examples of Miller’s work include Batman: Year One, Ronin, Hard Boiled and Martha Washington miniseries Give Me Liberty.
Rising to prominence with award-winning, Eduardo Risso-illustrated noir crime series 100 Bullets, Brian Azzarello is also well known for penning DC superhero titles such as Joker, Wonder Woman, Superman: For Tomorrow, Lex Luthor: Man of Steel and Flashpoint: Batman – Knight of Vengeance. Other highlights of Ohio-born Azzarello’s distinguished comics career include writing for horror series Hellblazer and the Wild West-set Loveless.
