Mike Wolfer, best known for his writing and illustrating of comic book horror classics like FRIDAY THE 13TH, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and LADY DEATH, brings you the next chapter in the fear-fraught world of RAGDOLL! But this time, Ragdoll herself is nowhere to be seen, as the spotlight falls on the mad Queen of Blood herself, COUNTESS BATHORY (bah-TOR-ee)!
A special, self-contained one-shot, COUNTESS BATHORY #1 is a sequel to THE CURSE OF RAGDOLL, and serves as a primer for the next graphic novel in the RAGDOLL series, titled ORGY OF THE VAMPIRES, Kickstarting in early 2015. It’s gory, horrific fun for mature readers, but never fear- If you missed THE CURSE OF RAGDOLL, you’ll have your chance to get your hands on it right here. So let’s get down to specifics, shall we?
COUNTESS BATHORY #1 is 24 pages of story, and is presented in glorious, rich black and white tones, reminiscent of classic, 1970’s EERIE, CREEPY and VAMPIRELLA magazines. Interior lettering is provided by Natalie Jane, with cover coloring by Ceci de la Cruz.
SYNOPSIS: In the late 1770s, an insidious evil has crept into a sleepy, Carpathian Mountain village. Young women are mysteriously disappearing in the night, and the secret of their abductions lies behind the walls of a local convent. But when the villagers storm the religious sanctuary in search of answers, they’ll find only death… And Countess Bathory!
Although you don’t have to read THE CURSE OF RAGDOLL to understand this issue, this story is the continuation of the cliff-hanger vignette seen in that book, and gives readers a bit of a glimpse into the events that occurred prior to Bathory’s appearance in TCOR, as well as the never-before-seen, blood-curdling events which followed. And where does this story lead after its completion, you ask? Directly into RAGDOLL: ORGY OF THE VAMPIRES, of course! I’ll be drawing COUNTESS BATHORY #1 throughout the month of December, with lettering, production, and rewards printing through January, and delivery to you in February, 2015.
