Dynamite’s Vampirella Archives Head To Paperback

After releasing 15 hardcovers featuring classic Vampirella comics, Dynamite is taking the Vampirella Archives to paperback with brand-new printings, starting in April.

Kicking off — appropriately — with Vampirella Archives, Volume 1, the book contains 380 pages of reprints going back to 1969’s Vampirella Magazine #1-#7. As Dynamite notes in their release, the book was able to “sidestep the then dominant Comics Code Authority. This allowed the ever-evolving stable of brilliant writers and artists to push the boundaries of mature, sophisticated content underneath its jaw-dropping painted covers.”

Vampirella Magazine ran 112 issues from 1969 through 1983, and included contributions from Jim Warren, Forrest J. Ackerman, Frank Frazetta, Trina Robbins, and Tom Sutton, as well as editors like Archie Goodwin, Louise Simonson, and Bill DuBay.

The first volume alone includes Ackerman, Sutton, Neal Adams, Doug Moench, Reed Crandall, Jeffrey Catherine Jones, Gardner Fox, Ernie Colon, Billy Graham, and more, as well as painted covers from Frazetta, Jones, Vaughn Bodé, Bill Hughes, and Ken Kelly.

Dynamite’s plan is to release all 15 volumes in paperback, at a discounted price (compared to the hardcover): $34.99, versus the $49.99 for the hardcovers.

About the Author

Richard is the driving force behind Comics for Sinners. His love and admiration for female comic book characters is virtually unparalleled, which immediately explains his biggest 'sin': his Hot Mummy fetish. This sketchbook theme is philogynistic in nature and even the source of his WIP comic book series "The Sisterhood".
