Given To Me: Kickstarter Campaign
This week I’d like to discuss my Kickstarter campaign. I am adapting my novel Foul Blood into comic book format and I need to finish paying the artists. Where Last Rites reads like an epic adventure taking our heroes to exotic locales such as Cairo Egypt and Calcutta India, Foul Blood reads like an old noir novel along the lines of Daschle Hammet, Raymond Chandler or Mickey Spillane and takes place solely in Boston.
It is a prequel to Last Rites and tells the origin story of Karl Vincent and his first encounter with a vampire. Dead bodies are showing up behind the night club “First Impressions” decapitated and drained of blood. Is there a vampire loose in Boston? David Reynolds, a serial killer that Karl arrested years ago has escaped. Is he behind the murders? The second victim was Paul “Sweetheart” Sachitella, a mobster with ties to club owner Leo “The Freezer” Kowalski is Leo involved?
I based David Reynolds loosely on the real serial killer Danny Rolling and Leo “The Freezer” Kowalski was inspired by Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski. I got the idea to use the cross dressing club “First Impressions” from the Rocky Horror Picture show and used Jacques Cabaret (with their consent) as a model for the club.
