Given to Me; “Yes Virginia, there really is a trailer”

Alright, alright, I know I’ve been promising everyone a trailer in this column and it hasn’t been completed yet. I’m getting a little anxious myself, but the trailer is coming and here’s visual proof! Some pictures taken from director/producer Jeffrey Crisps computer. Yes, I know the trailer’s been slow in coming and he now promises me no completion date. But what do you want my friends, something that looks half assed and rushed, or a quality, professionally polished piece of film making that will make you want more? I want the latter myself.

Now, let me give you a little run down of the pictures I’ve included with this column: This is from the opening credits sequence. The first part of which we plan on animating. It will feature Karl chasing down Sebastian in his vampire hunting van. Sebastian is a bat and the sun is rising. Karl has a kind of stake gun and is firing stakes at Sebastian, all of which miss. As each stake is fired, a film credit will follow it, like “Starring Kevin Given as Karl Vincent,” Sebastian is desperately looking for refuge from the deadly rays when he comes across an old barn. He flies down and turns to vampire form. After Sebastian reverts to vampire form we go from animation to live action. Karl is right behind him and drives up to the barn.

Sebastian has taken refuge from the morning sky in a hay loft and Karl must wade through a field of horse do-do to find his prey. As Karl searches the barn more credits will roll as the tension mounts. Finally, Karl sees his arch-nemesis asleep behind the hay. He gets out a stake and mallet and places it over Sebastian’s heart, Sebastian wakes up and reaches for Karl. Fade out then fade in to the first scene…Did Karl kill Sebastian or did Sebastian escape? You must keep watching to find out.

I think the opening we all brainstormed on will be a good suspenseful, yet comedic way to bring the viewer in to the movie. I can’t wait to see it myself and I wonder what I’ll look like as an animated character. Here are some pics from Jeff’s computer as well as pics we took on the day of the shoot. The movie is an adaptation of my novel Last Rites: The Return of Sebastian Vasilis available on amazon, look for the comic book adaptations on Indyplanet and Drive Thru Comics.
