Review: Faster/Gridiron Gang “The Rock” 2 Movie Pack
Sony has issued a double bill of thrillers starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
“A lone man, recently released from prison, seeks out the people from his past who he believes betrayed him. While he forces each to atone for their sins, he must also face what meting out vengeance will do to his immortal soul. Meanwhile, he’s not the only one looking to settle old scores. Hired by the man responsible for the events which lead him to prison, an eccentric contract killer follows his every move. Scenes of them crossing paths, sometimes violently, are interspersed with the assassin’s self-realizations of how to deal with struggles within his own life. As if old enemies & hired guns aren’t enough, a young female detective begrudgingly works alongside a veteran investigator looking to simply survive his last two weeks on the force before retirement, as they seek out the brazen ex-con who has been blazing a path of gasoline-powered destruction in his vintage Chevelle.”
Gridiron Gang
“In the Kilpatrick juvenile detention center, the supervisor and former football player Sean Porter sees the lack of discipline, self-esteem, union and perspective in the teenage interns and proposes to prepare a football team to play in one league. He is supported by his superiors and his successful experience changes the lives of many young kids.”
Dwayne Johnson is dishing out justice in his action-hero style in Faster and is doing good deeds in Gridiron Gang. Dwayne is the new Schwarzenegger but in these two movies he shows that he is not only able to muscle up, but also is a really good actor. What is interesting in Faster is however also a really intriguing story, which I dare not spoil the reader about, but one that makes a complete roundabout and makes sure this is not a mere Hollywood-ending kinda flick! Safe to say, the story is more meaningful then you might suspect!
In Gridiron Gang a more subtle tone is set and the feel-good, the sentiment and the dump-load of clichés notwithstanding, this 2-hr movie hits a homerun nevertheless. Dwayne Johnson again sets the tone of righteousness, but also due to the very good acting skills of the young squad.
C4S verdict: This 2-movie-pack packs a bundle and the joy in watching both revenge-movies as well as a feel-good movie with The Rock is not to be overlooked!
This DVD Duo Pack with Dwayne Johnson is on sale since 11 september. Thanks to Sony Pictures for the review copy.
