Review: Grimm Fairy Tales Holiday Edition 2016

gft-halloween-2016-_-1I love a good themed-Holiday comic and this one is one of the better you will ever get!

It’s that time of the year again when everyone dresses up as their favorite monster and people gather together to frighten each other with scary stories. And your favorite heroes from Grimm Fairy Tales love to enjoy Halloween as much as anyone else. Join Robyn, Avril, Britney, and Liesel as they gather to see who can tell the scariest tale.

They sure do as they are sitting on that lovely stoop, our lovely GFT-girlfriends! Robyn, Avril, Britney, and Liesel share a good (I hope) glass of wine, giggle and are entertained by dressed-up kids. They hand out candy and exchange stories among eachother and since it is Halloween they need to be gruesome!

So we get a love-revenge-story about a ghost, which is hitting home with me. I am a lovesick fool, I guess. Then a werewolf story which is just… amazing! Saying nothing more to avoid spoilers! Then a vampire story which is double-edged saying you should always be on guard. And then it all ends with a nicely-told lovely-written droolingly-penciled/colored (present on ALL pages, come to think of it!) Witch story which again has that “female power” message I so love in comics!

The all-around “sitting on a stoop” story-line is rounded out with a particul surprise which makes a nice follow-up revenge-story comic a must even.

All in all: The start of Zenescope was handled mostly via coverwork. Artwork on the interiors was below par, I think. And Dream Saga was a big letdown for me even though the whole Wonderland Trilogy was amazing, to be honoust. But now… with these comics… wow man!!

About the Author

Richard is the driving force behind Comics for Sinners. His love and admiration for female comic book characters is virtually unparalleled, which immediately explains his biggest 'sin': his Hot Mummy fetish. This sketchbook theme is philogynistic in nature and even the source of his WIP comic book series "The Sisterhood".
