Review: Sunstone #1

sunstone1Sunstone is an erotic romantic comedy exploring sexuality and how it affects our lives, nature of fetishism, and the truth behind BDSM (Bondage SM)… as there seem to be more than a few misconceptions about it.

Sunstone is a new project by artist Stjepan Sejic (Witchblade, Artifacts, Aphrodite IX, Ravine) and completely published online at Deviant Art.

In reading Sunstone #1 you meet 2 women, Allison and Lisa, who both are searching for something more, something that will complete them. Somehow the search for completeness finds them both in the outskirts of society’s ideas and they are both fully aware of these dogma’s. They both keep it a secret since it is not mainstream or as socially accepted “meeting in a bar”  and “hooking up at a dancing”. It is not even as socially disgusted as young girls going to Ibiza to nail as many boys as possible or to drink themselves in a coma.

When it happens to be about SEX and especially BONDAGE and SM,  and (still even!) the outing of being gay, then well, the tendency of mainstream folks is not really one of acceptance. Which is a shame. Which is human behaviour, I guess.

Stjepan Sejic is taking it up a notch, and I am not sure this is about him outing himself or secretly telling everyone what he and his wife like to do… In fact, you should not really care about that, since that is their business.

What Stjepan is doing with Sunstone is to take two lovely girls, fill them to the rim with cuteness, hope, love, need for acceptance and kinships, and all things human and let them act out their encounter in a healthy, open and positive way. You see how Lisa and Ally get to know each other, how they develop feelings for each other which might just go way beyond Lisa’s need for being dominated and well beyond Lisa’s role of dominatrix.

In reading this tale of love and discoveries, you get swamped by feelings of hope and positivity, while also getting aroused by the hot striking images of two sexy dames playing out their fantasies. This mix of feelings added with the humoristic approach which seems inherent to a positive approach of the world we live in, makes for a more then interesting read… a more then educational read. Sunstone will make you aware and will entertain you at the same time.

Sejic has again unknowingly found a way to amaze his fans, shifting gears from his amazing run on Top Cow’s Witchblade and Artifacts, to moving into fantasy with Ravine and now adding a human story like Sunstone to his repertoire.
