Review: The Walking Dead Comics Companion

This essential guide to the Walking Dead comics presents the best features, interviews and guides to the award-winning comic as featured in the Official Walking Dead Magazine.

There is this neat franchise that is called The Walking Dead. You might have heard about it before, be it as reading the mighty successful comic book run (in various collections: HC, TPB, Compendium and also in mány translations across the globe!) or/and a top rated television series, with both entities going on for many years now.

It was even so successful that it inspired the publication of a magazine series to even better chronicle and monetize (duh!) its achievements.

The magazines were published on a high level of quality and so here, gathered together by the publisher Titan Comics in the lovely United Kingdom, is a collection of some of those quality-high articles, interviews, features, insights, character pieces and reviews from that magazine. This COMPANION is presented as guide to fans of both the comic as well as the TV-show and will let you get more info per page then you could possible hope for.

Of course it carries interviews and it essentially start out with creator Robert Kirkman and entertains many talks with other creators as well including artist Charlie Adlard. Throughout the book, readers will be treated to samples of Mister Charlie Adlard, who has been the artist on The Walking Dead since issue #7. The joining of a great story with a great artist is fully seen in this Companion and expresses the need for a great partnership on all creative levels to create something as powerful as this franchise has become.

Of course we need to address Romero as the ‘founder’ of zombie-culture, at least in the current pop-culture era, but to harness a zombie-series in which the zombies are not even the real threat, nor the real story… that is a feat on itself.

So if you are that avid comic book reader, or if you only watched the TV-series or if you are a zombie-fan, this Companion will be both a tribute as well as a shrine as well as a treasure cove to all!

About the Author

Richard is the driving force behind Comics for Sinners. His love and admiration for female comic book characters is virtually unparalleled, which immediately explains his biggest 'sin': his Hot Mummy fetish. This sketchbook theme is philogynistic in nature and even the source of his WIP comic book series "The Sisterhood".
