0Step into a magical world and celebrate the 25th edition of Elfia with us!
Elfia is the greatest fantasy and costume event in Europe and attracts 25,000 visitors per weekend. This year the 25th edition of the event will be celebrated with the theme “Good Faeries, Bad Faeries.” During this event you can let it all go and immerse yourself in the world of fantasy.
In 2001 the first edition of the fantasy event Elfia called Elf Fantasy Fair first took place. Meanwhile, we are proud to announce our 25th edition on 29 and 30 April the grounds of Kasteel de Haar in Haarzuilens.
Elfia is an event which accomodates many fantasy lovers and let them express their love for the fantastic realm. Many of the visitors arrive in beautiful costume to the event, be it Sci-Fi to medieval themes and cosplay to creations that are born from imagination. Groups of friends who act out as students of Hogwarts, a family flying by all dressed up, a friendly vampire who raises the glass with a werewolf… you see it all during Elfia. For the visitors, it is a true escape from everyday life.
The upcoming Elfia promises many wonderful things. Of course we have again expanded our market place, for every fan there is something to find and discover. There are workshops, lectures, demonstrations, re-enacters, LARPers, sword fighters, special guests, balfolk, parades and some “walking acts”. There will also be several bands exposing the visitors with musical features to dance on. On both days you can see the most beautiful costumes pass by on the main stage during the pride of the event, the costume contest. Of course we also have something special in store to make this 25th edition extra festive.
Fantastic Fire Show
Foundation Langenort will amaze you with their fantastic fire show ‘The Legend of Saint Anthony’. Gargoyles and fearless riders come together in a fire spectacle that is unequaled. Towering flames, horses defy the fire, the show appeals to the imagination. There will also be Kala to mesmerize the audience with their fire show, which shows a unique way of dealing with fire.
Larp and activities
Let us take you to a post-apocalyptic society, and then step into the Middle Ages and to go from there to Middle Earth. Be condemned as a heretic by the Inquisition or take up the bow and learn archery. Elfia is the gateway to many times, dimensions and worlds. You can even go venture in the world of birds during the Bird Of Prey show.
Dance like pirates on the show Ye Banished Privateers and The Dolmen, listen how Cellar Darling myths and legends put on music and you get carried away and step into the world of Ann May, a strong and powerful performance of this passionate woman and her band. The world of Tim Burton comes to life during the show by The Spleen Orchestra. The stages are again filled with various bands and shows.
Fairytales and Costumes
Listen to fairy tales from Elfia’s narrator. Professor Roland Rotherham talks about the origins of fairy tales and history of the English way of telling tale: Pantomime. In the chapel where the lectures take place you will also find the Italian Cosplay master Manuel D’Andrea, who talks about how he himself transform into any character he wants, from Peter Pan to Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus. Also Manuel will be juror during the costume parade, where he – as Cosplay expert – will notice all cosplays and performances.
