Super! Comic launches on Patreon at Philadelphia Wizard World; the world rejoices!
In 2014, there was a superhero comic that snuck in under the radar and reminded fans exactly why they fell in love with comics in the first place. With awesome art, fists full of action, plenty of laughs, and that magical sense of wonder that’s become all too rare in comics nowadays, the self-published Super! won universal critical praise and a core following of comic fans who want to see that magic continue.
Enter Patreon, a crowdfunding website that features a system of ongoing, monthly donations, enabling fans to support and engage with the artists and creators they love.
“We’ve tried to sweeten the pot for people to back us on Patreon,” Super! co-creator Justin Piatt said. “Offering all kinds of rewards like early access, original pages from the comic, or the ability to join our universe; but the main event, and the real reason people will support us, is our issues. People want to see Super!, and now they can help us make it.”
“Our Patreon announcement is just us doing what we need to do in order to keep making this crazy book. We didn’t seek permission from anyone else before we started; we took our idea directly to the market and said ‘Hey, do you want this?’ and people went nuts. They’re all in. They want more. And now, through Patreon, they can help us get it.”
