The Maid of Might Returns in Supergirl This June!
On June 26, 2026, DC Studios is bringing Supergirl to the big screen, and it’s one of my most anticipated comic book films of the summer. Based heavily on Tom King’s Woman of Tomorrow run, this iteration of Supergirl, following in the steps of Helen Slater and Melissa Benoist, features a more jaded, battle-hardened Kara Zor-El—an interesting contrast to her cousin, as we saw in the closing scene of the latest Superman movie starring David Corenswet.

If you have been scrolling through social media recently, you may have noticed some criticism directed towards actress Milly Alcock for her remarks in a viral interview on the topic of online culture. It sounds like a lot of noise over nothing from the usual toxic corners of the web. Alcock proved she has the presence for the cape with her scene-stealing debut cameo in last year’s Superman. I think we should absolutely give her room to fly before boycotting her even before the movie officially premieres. This is a trend that is doing damage not only to superhero movies, but to the film industry as a whole.
As a fan of Helen Slater’s interpretation of Kara Zor-El (the movie wasn’t that great, but Slater nailed it as Supergirl) and Melissa Benoist’s fantastic run on the CW, I’m incredibly hyped to see what Alcock brings to the legacy.
The Main Man Arrives

If Alcock isn’t enough to get you to the theater, the trailers dropped an absolute bombshell: Jason Momoa is officially playing Lobo.
While some internet critics love to claim Momoa lacks range, the reality is that he is the only actor working today who can effortlessly channel the sheer, unadulterated, cigar-chomping swagger of the Main Man. We witnessed his imposing physical presence in both Conan the Barbarian and the Aquaman movies. Seeing him cruise through space as Lobo on his signature space chopper is a dream come true for this fan of the Main Man. Word is it’s a brief, impactful cameo to set up his future in the DCU, but seeing a drunk Supergirl cross paths with Lobo is going to be pure superhero movie gold.
Leave the internet drama at the door, and let’s see what the new DCU can do.
