Virtual Graphics Announces Opus Line With New Hildebrandt
Press Release
Virtual Graphics is proud to announce the launch of OPUS: The Masters of Illustration, a new imprint of art books, featuring some of the most accomplished illustrators from the world of fantasy, pin-up and sci-fi. The first release will be this July with Vamps, Tramps & Beauties by Greg Hildebrandt. This is the first ever collection of pin-ups of acclaimed painter Greg Hildebrandt, better known for his groundbreaking rendition of Tolkien’s masterpiece “Lord of the Rings” and the very first eponymous poster for Star Wars. In recent years Greg has turned his attention toward pin-up art and has created an impressive collection of work that compares favorably to the masters of the genre, like Elvgren and Vargas.
On the schedule for September is DREAMER, a collection of work by Swiss artist Pierangelo Boog. Although he’s not a household name in the fantasy-art community yet, his work has been well-received by the British magazine “ImagineFX” and he will soon be considered a major force in the art world. Virtual Graphics publisher David Boller notes, “We have high hopes for OPUS and believe that collectors of these kinds of books will recognize the talent of our artists which are, without any doubt, among the best in the world.”
All books come in two editions, a regular softcover edition as well as a deluxe edition. The deluxe hardcover edition contains a limited edition print, signed and numbered by the artists. Vamps, Tramps & Beauties by Greg Hildebrandt will be available in early July from retailers in the UK. Distribution is being handled by Diamond UK.
