0‘Warrior Nun’ creator Ben Dunn speaks out on Netflix series
As the clock is ticking away toward the July-launch of the comic-inspired “Warrior Nun” bingeable series on Nerflix, creator Ben Dunn speaks out.
It's been a heady week. The WARRIOR NUN Netflix series is really starting to cause a stir as we countdown the days to its debut. I plan on having a viewing party with some close friends and relatives. I may do a live stream but I have yet to figure that stuff out so it is up in the air. I've heard a lot of comments from the hardcore WNA fans that it is not faithful to the comic. That is understandable. It would have been really cool to see the comic literally translated into live action. The only thing is that, it probably would not work. When I went in on this the producers of the series loved the premise but not the execution because, quite frankly, it simply would not have worked in live action. They did consult with me about the WNA universe and asked for as many back issues as I could provide. So I am confident that should the series take off and they continue making new episodes they will draw heavy inspiration with all the mythology, lore and characters that populate the universe. Quite, frankly there have been over 200+ issues and 25 years of history that they can draw on. Unlike, other comic adaptations which have limited number of issues the WARRIOR NUN universe is unlimited and possibilities are endless. Would I have liked a literal translation? Sure, but I trusted the creators would take the concept and tone and make it acceptable to a wide audience. However, there is always anime and Netflix is very much into that so it maybe a possibility that it could be turned into a anime. If you want that to happen you need to let Netflix know. They do listen and they pay close attention to what people are saying about their series. Let your voice be known. You never know unless you make it happen. On another note, I will be heading to San Antonio this weekend to celebrate Father's Day and to talk to my bro about future AP projects so I maybe out of circulation for a few days. Also, INDIE WARS deadline of JULY 1 is close so get those submissions in.
