Yoko Tsuno 28 and Yoko Tsuno Collections announced

The invention of artist Roger Léloup had made me fall in love for comics even before Vampirella or Spider-Man and in my youth, going to the library, I could not get enough of Yoko and her many adventures, especially when she discovered an alien blue-skinned race (and no, not related to the Smurfs or Avatar) and even goes into space.

Besides being pretty, intelligent and courageous, Yoko Tsuno is an electronics engineer. This specialization draws her and friends Pol and Vic into adventures that cross the border between fantasy and science fiction. Yoko crosses the globe and travels through time and space; but no matter where her exploits take her, the young girl always remains faithful to herself, never forgetting values such as loyalty, friendship and respect for life.

After the success of the “Integrales” in French and in German, this week the announcement (courtesy of Stripspeciaalzaak) came that the Dutch translations of the Collections will make a start in 2017, with 2 collections this year alone.

This will provide new readers to not only get on board of one of the finest books ever to come out of Belgium especially since they are long out of print even, but it also gives old fans the possibility to add this “Integrales” to their own collection as well. And they will happily do that because of all the extra documentation, omitted scenes, sketches, special celebratory pieces of art never seen before and much more!

Here an overview of all the albums:

• Integrale 1: deel 1-2-6 (from Earth to Vinea)
• Integrale 2: deel 3-7-14 (German adventures)
• Integrale 3: deel 11-17-20 (time travels)
• Integrale 4: deel 8-10-13 (Vinea in danger)
• Integrale 5: deel 16-22-23 (Chinese adventures)
• Integrale 6: deel 4-18-21 (robots in all shapes and forms)
• Integrale 7: deel 9-12-19 (dark plotting)
• Integrale 8: deel 5-15-24 (Earth threatened)
• Integrale 9: deel 25-26-27 (secrets and curses)

Next to this exciting news there is also a new album announced in French and Dutch language.

In part 28 Yoko meets a certain Isolde, an attractive young girl descended from the Celts. She dreams of becoming a princess. Yoko wants to help her realize her dream. But despite her best intentions she has to deal with strange monks, a dragon, a goddess and a dangerous person who thinks he has legendary powers. The story about the Vineans also continues, leading into part #29 even.

If you are intrigued by this post and are not a French, German or Dutch reader, but indeed like to read it in English, then please go to CINEBOOK Publishers, who I believe also will ship to comic shops in the USA if you want to order via a LCS.

Richard is the driving force behind Comics for Sinners. His love and admiration for female comic book characters is virtually unparalleled, which immediately explains his biggest 'sin': his Hot Mummy fetish. This sketchbook theme is philogynistic in nature and even the source of his WIP comic book series "The Sisterhood".
